22 Life Lessons On My 22nd Birthday

6:45 PM

1
Check that you have milk before pouring cereal in a bowl.

2
Being vulnerable is scary and will make your heart flutter but it's
always better than playing it safe.

3
It's not your job to look like a Victoria Secret model. They get paid to go to the gym and have rock-hard abs, you don't. Your job is to go to class and cry over a plate of mozzarella sticks because you're so stressed about finals. Don't fret about looking a certain way unless it's your actual job to do so. Your only responsibility is to be healthy and happy.

4
DRINK WATER AFTER A NIGHT OUT, WHY HAS IT TAKEN THIS LONG
FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND?

5
Never make assumptions about someone's feelings or intentions. Humans are the most confusing & complex species on the planet and there is no sense trying to figure out why people do what they do and the crazy reasons behind everything.

6
Don't look for happiness with digital validation (i.e. likes, favorites, followers, etc.)

7
Always carry a pad or tampon with you.

8
Beauty can't be defined. Live by your own definition.

9
Invest in good skincare products. You're gonna have this face for a looong time.

10
Travel as much as you possibly can. It has the power to make you
a more insightful, accepting person.

11
Time heals most things. It just sucks waiting for it to pass.

12
Put your family first. Above your friends, boyfriend, weekend plans, and job.
They are #1 always.

13
Stop giving beer a chance. You know deep down in your heart that it tastes like piss. Stick to the vodka cranberry.

14
Just because you're an adult doesn't mean you should stop eating SpongeBob SquarePants-shaped mac and cheese for dinner.

15
If you don't ask, you don't get.

16
Don't feel bad if you don't click with someone. Not everyone is meant to be your BFF.

17
Read the news. Be aware of what's going on in the world.

18
Stop conforming to how others feel and think. Live your life
the way YOU want to instead of how others think you should live it.

19
Taking care of your mental health is really fucking important.

20
You may feel lonely at times, but you're never alone. You have great
people in your life who really care and they're just a phone call or text away.

21
The first time is often the hardest. Don't let it deter you from trying new things.

22
Invest in a couple of jackets/coats. Wearing the same jacket everyday is depressing.

[one to grow on] 23
The things you are so sure about now will probably change.
