Fall Jams
12:48 PM
This season has surprisingly delivered a lot of techno-alternative jams and I'm certainly not complaining.
Most of these songs are so versatile that you won't know whether to sort them in your "Chill" playlist or "Going Out" playlist. I'll let you figure that out.
I hope you enjoy, and feel free to share your jams of this season in the comments.
Weight in Gold - GallantCall me anxious, call me broke. But I can't do this on my own.
I first heard this song in the background of a Redbull commercial and instantly fell in love. It has this R&B flavor mixed with an electric, head-nodding beat. It's a song that pleads to the universe with equal parts reflection and hope. It's an absolute jam. Thanks Redbull.

It ain't my fault you came in looking like that
At first listen, I instantly added this to my "Going Out" playlist. This tune has such a loud, irresistible beat with sassy lyrics to match. In fact, the lyrics are so catchy that by the middle of the song, everyone can sing and dance along even if it's the first listen. And if you end up loving this song too, it ain't my fault.

Oh, Ophelia, heaven help a fool who falls in love
This folksy song packs so much charm in under three minutes. And as a former pianist, I appreciate when my favorite instrument makes an appearance in more mainstream music. If you liked the cheery confessional Ho Hey from their last album, this one should be right up your alley.

Your silhouette is burned in my memory. Rubble left from the moment that you left me.
Lyrically, this is quite a sad song about heartbreak-- but you would never know unless you were really paying attention. This song sounds like an epic collab between the Chainsmokers and Rihanna. You'll find yourself swinging back-and-forth while pretending to know the words. Have fun deciding whether to put this in your "Chill" or "Going Out" playlist.
